Jon Burgess

Jon is a Senior Partner in the practice.

Jon leads our audit, due diligence and forensic accounting divisions and is recognised as a leading accountant and advisor in these areas. The division undertakes a considerable amount of work as a registered company auditor, undertaking business valuations and forensic investigations.

Jon practices in areas including taxation and business advisory and heads our international business advisory area.

Jon in particular acts for a range of private sector clients of substantial size and relevance including unlisted public companies, managed investment entities, legal practices, real estate firms, developers, manufacturers, importers and management letting rights.

Jon has a direct focus in ensuring that a high level of service and communication occurs between himself and his clients. He is committed to having a high level of understanding of the micro levels of their business’s so as to add value at all times in his area’s of specialisation.

Over thirty years of audit, accounting and taxation experience, largely obtained with second tier accounting practices.

Appearing as an expert witness before the Administrative Appeals Tribunal, the Supreme Court of Queensland and the Administrative Decisions Tribunals in Australia, and the Supreme Court in South Africa.

Attending to valuations for many purposes over a period of over thirty years.

Participating (in many instances as the audit partner) in audits of public companies both listed (on the ASX and the JSE) and unlisted companies.

Legal adviser to a large commercial international airline.

Senior partner in the offices of two second tier account and audit practices.

Registration as a Chartered Accountant (or similar) in three continents (current registration in two).

Extensive knowledge of both Australian and international accounting and auditing standards.

Training officer / mentor to over fifty candidates who have subsequently qualified as Chartered Accountants in either Australia or South Africa.
